Coach Attila

​Coach Attila is a native of Transylvania, present-day Romania. He has been involved with soccer from avery young age. His father, a famous local boxer, took him to F.C. Olimpia Oradea at six. In this soccern club, he began his young, budding soccer carrier under the tutelage of Coach Gyula Vicsay Sr. Two years were spent at the youngest levels when an invitation came from the top club in Oradea, Romania, to join their academy. Here, the development continued under many formal National team Players turned coaches, such as Gusztáv Juhász (Guszti Bácsi), both Hungarian and Romanian National team and former champion with NAC in Hungary and Romania, László Zilahi (Laci Bácsi) as well as Gyula Vicsay Jr. and later István Harsányi. During a political powerplay at the academy, coach Harsányi decided to leave F.C. Bihor and joined Voinţa Oradea. This team was a leader in the Third Division, and coach Harsányi took the reins of the Junior team that had a gamut of players from the age of 19 to 13. As coach Harsányi was Attila's favorite person and coach. Attila thirteen years old now, decided to join the new club. In no time, he was a Bonafide starter, and after a season and a half, the first team (adult team) called for him to be one of the two juniors to play in the first team. The Romanian Soccer Federation mandated this rule for youngsters to be given chances to progress in their careers. Attila became a permanent member ofVoinţa Oradea in 1979-1981. In April 1981, a new chapter opened as Attila immigrated to the USA. Tryouts with Pennsylvania Stoners, Pittsburgh Spirit, Hartford Hellions, and Wichita Wings. Still, in the long run, Attila's family chose the academic route due to the rapid decline of the NASL and the MISL. JFK HS in the Bronx was the next home after two years of inactivity. Additionally, playing for the Cosmopolitan league's N.Y. Hungarians, Astoria's Blue Angels, NY Athletic Club, and Mount Vernon Italians. After graduation from high school, Attila attended Ulster County Community College and played for two seasons in JUCO. The Ulster County C.C. Senators were National Championship runner-ups and third-place finishers at the National Championships a year later. After two years at UCCC, a transfer to Division I team Saint Francis College in Brooklyn materialized, where Attila also played and studied with distinction. After graduation, a yearning to become a decent soccer coach took Attila back to Europe. He teamed up with his player idol, Attila Kun, and apprenticed for TSG Backnang-Backnang-Baden and S.V. Fellback. From Germany, coach Attila traveled to Spain and joined the Escuela Municipal de Futbol Santander. He studied under Laureano Ruiz, the former F.C. Barcelona and Racing Santander coach. They traveled and worked together in Santander and the famed La Masia in Barcelona until coach Attila returned to the USA. Since his return, he has been working to implement an American Curriculum for the American soccer player. As a result, Coach Attila developed and sent many players to Europe, proving that his methods work. He accepts to work with players deemed surplus to requirements in the U.S. and turns them into professional players in Europe.
